Tech Talk from Jon Hammond: Playing Hammond organ through Fender Tube Amps

Tech Talk from Jon Hammond: Playing Hammond organ through Fender Tube Amps Jon Hammond: I own 2 Hammond B3 organs and Leslie speakers, unfortunately they will not fit in a taxi cab, so these days I play most of my road gigs using either my Hammond XK-1 organ or my Hammond XK-3 organ and I like to play them through my vintage Fender tube amps, I have 2 1965 Fender amps, a piggy back Fender Band-Master with stock factory 12" Jensen speakers and my Twin Reverb with original JBL Speakers option. The Twin was formerly owned by John McFee when he was in Clover and Flying Circus and at that time he had it maintained by Randall Smith of Prune who started Boogie Amp company. I purchased the amp in 1981, it still has Flying Circus stencil on top of the amp. My Band-Master is now maintained by Scott Robinson who is Vice President of CHRS California Historical Radio Society. I also have a 150 watt Music Man HD-212 hybrid amp that is a monster. Jon's amps: Fender Band-Master Piggyback Amp: Fender Twin Reverb with factory JBL Speakers Jon's amps with Hammond XK-1 organ at home, always practice while watching TV and listening to the radio for independence real-world simulation, split the brain: Jon's solo hospital performer set up with Hammond XK-1 organ and Roland 100 watt keyboard amp: I play organ standing up for full-power delivery. Jon playing Hammond XK-1 organ with band onstage at Jazzkeller Hofheim: Jon Hammond will be appearing at Winter NAMM 2010 with Bernard Purdie January 15th Friday night in Hilton Hotel Lobby with Joe Berger guitar and tenor sax tba.
